The kit includes:

  • 1 x  scorer with cutter head
  • 1 x  snapper (vice)
  • 2 x Replacement cutter heads
  • 1 x Replacement pressure pad
  • 2 x bottles of oil (only a small amount of oil in each bottle)
  • 1 x Tape measure
  • 1 x Allen key

Like most tools, these do not come with instructions. The more you practice with them the better the outcome.

You score the tile with the scorer with one movement, line up the line on the front of the vice with the score line and gently screw down until the tile snaps.

You don't need to use oil when scoring ceramic (only glass). I would recommend you use a top quality glass cutter like TOYO for glass cutting, they give a more clean consistent score, meaning less glass wastage. Oil is used when scoring glass to ensure a clean smooth cut. As you score the glass the oil seeps into the score line 'opening it up'. You need to 'snap' the glass soon after scoring. If you leave it too long it can cause the glass to break off in different directions. You can fill this glass scorer with oil (undo the screw at the back, add oil and replace screw) but this can be very messy, I prefer to add oil to a sponge and dip the end in oil before and after scoring. Rest the scorer on the sponge in a cup when not in use.

These cutters are an economical way to practice with scoring and snapping cheap glass offcuts, but they are better used to for ceramic tiles. They will cut most hard and soft tiles beautifully. You can use them to cut strips easily and then nip out smaller shapes using wheeled nippers or other ceramic tools.

To ensure a long life keep the wheel clean with oil. A dampened sponge in a cup to rest the cutter on when not in use is recommended.
